Books, articles, and sometimes podcasts that piqued my interest or were particularly memorable. I don’t take the time to summarize them since a search engine can do that quicker and with more eloquence than me. Just some quick thoughts on each. Feel free to send recommendations on other material! Here is the latest handful of content that I really enjoyed!
City of Night Birds: A Novel by Juhea Kim
I am already seeking my next read from this author. I love the details that Juhea Kim includes in her story telling. This was one of those books that I could not put down, I was very invested in the story line and characters. If you have any interest in or appreciation for ballet, this will particularly appeal to you!

The Beantown Girls and Goodnight from Paris: Novel by Jane Healey
First I read The Beantown Girls, and then I listened to it, and then I wrote to the author because it impacted me in a personal way. Having served in the military myself, I have special appreciation for stories that highlight the accomplishments of women in the military or in wartime settings. I was floored to receive word back from the author, who is gracious and wonderful, along with a signed copy that I now prize in my home library.
I have since also read one of her other books, Goodnight from Paris: A Novel, which touched my heart because of how it resonated with elements of my own life, and with how deeply moving the story is. I have special affection for this book and got through it in a matter of days! Jane Healey has a beautiful way of developing characters that draws me in to feel as though I know them personally.

The Last Thing He Told Me: A Novel by Laura Dave
Gifted to me by a friend, I was unsure of the book but very sure that my friend knows me and would only gift me something she thought I would enjoy. The end of the story caught me by surprise, which was refreshing! It is overall an easy read, with a suspense-oriented plot line.

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver

This very well may be one of my new favorite books of all that I have ever read. Not only is it’s content politically, socially, spiritually, economically important but it is also a truly captivating storyline. I have kept it out, as I intend to re-read it soon. My heart was broken and also taught new lessons from this writing, and my mind was given so much freshly cultivated soil to work with. Fair warning: It has subject matters that are of mature nature and sometimes sensitive nature.
